Teck’s copper profile is led by its interest in major assets such as Quebrada Blanca in Chile, where the Quebrada Blanca 2 expansion is a key part of the company’s growth strategy. The project, developed with Sumitomo as a partner, materially increases Teck’s attributable copper output and gives the group greater exposure to a metal used widely in power grids, electric vehicles, renewable energy infrastructure, and industrial equipment.

The company also remains one of the world’s leading zinc miners. Its zinc operations supply a market tied to galvanised steel, construction, transportation, and manufacturing, providing Teck with commodity diversification even as copper becomes more central to its long-term direction.

Teck has reshaped its asset base in recent years by exiting oil sands and steelmaking coal, reducing exposure to carbon-intensive businesses and concentrating capital on metals with stronger links to electrification and lower-carbon infrastructure. In September 2025, Teck agreed to an all-equity merger with Anglo American, a transaction that, if completed, would combine two major global mining portfolios. For investors, Teck represents exposure to large-scale copper and zinc production, mining project execution, commodity-price cycles, and the strategic shift toward metals needed for decarbonisation.
