AER LINGUS GROUP PLC ORD EUR0.05

Aer Lingus is Ireland’s flagship airline founded by the Irish government. Formed in 1936, it is billed as the second-largest airline after Ryanair. The airline operates under a hybrid business model made up of mixed fare service in European routes. It also operates two-class flights within the transatlantic routes.

The business model means the airline operates as both a traditional legacy airline and a low-cost carrier. The difference, in this case, is in the service offered with meals only offered on the long haul flights.

Privatized between 2006 and 2015, the airline has evolved to become a wholly-owned subsidiary of International Airlines Group. IAG assumed full control of the airline in 2015 after the Irish government agreed to sell its 25% stake in the airline

The airline had its stock listed on the London Stock Exchange. However, it was delisted in 2015 following the IAG takeover.
