When John Thomas Bell founded Bellway plc in 1946, he was oblivious of the fact that it would become a massive entity in the construction industry. He went to innocently incorporate his two sons Russell and John before the third one Kenneth Bell joined them in 1951. Its initial name was John T. Bell & Sons.

From a local family entity, the business evolved to become an influential residential property developer in the UK. Its headquarters are in Newcastle upon Tyne with an additional 19 trading divisions in Scotland, England, and Wales.

Bellway plc utilizes local knowledge in offering its services. The developer is aware of the radical alteration in the housing sector. Thus, it creates developments and projects, which later become quality homes for the local communities.

With the rapid growth in the housing shortage, it is consistently putting in strategies to avert the same. Meanwhile, its listing is on the LSE market.
