Bodycote PLC was started as a textile business in 1923 by Arthur Bodycote. Its original name was G.R. Bodycote Ltd before being acquired in 1951 by Slater Walker. A few years later and in 1973, the company demerged. Thereafter, it undertook other acquisitions before 2008 when it rebranded from Bodycote International plc to Bodycote plc.
