Bunzl plc was established in 1854 by Moritz Bunzl when he registered his firm as Haberdashery in Slovakia. He later changed it to Bunzl & Biach AG and relocated its headquarters to Vienna, Austria. Presently, the company is headquartered in London, UK.

The main activities of the firm have transformed several times based on the interests of the Bunzl family. Currently, the company produces a wide of products including, construction materials, tissue paper, cigarette filters, plastic materials, and food service equipment.

The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange as a constituent of FTSE 100 Index. Bunzl has four key markets; North America, UK, Ireland, Continental Europe and other parts of the globe. The two largest markets are sale of foodservice and retail food machinery and hygiene equipment. Bunzl main stakeholders include; Invesco, Aviva, Legal & General, and Newton Investment Management.
