The DCC plc initially called Development Capital Corporation was established in 1976 by Jim Flavin, who got interested in growing financial products with a focus on the return on investment and cash generation and management opportunities. The firm later expanded from venture capital for startups to a chain of companies offering a range of products and services. Currently, the company group offers sales and marketing services and other consultancy services.

The firm has continued to expand its operations through acquisitions and mergers. For instance, the company acquired several companies including, Maxol Direct, a home heating company, Shell’s LPG business in Hong Kong, Esso Express petrol station in France, and much more.

It has four core business units; DCC LPG, DCC Technology, DCC Healthcare, and DCC Retail and Oil with specialized product lines for precise markets. Currently, it is headquartered in the UK and Ireland and listed on the London Stock Exchange. Since 2015, it is listed as a constituent of FTSE 100 Index.
