Derwent London is a property investment and development company. John Burns founded the company in 1984 with the aim of developing properties in London following the shutdown of the Derwent Valley Light Railway.
Billed as the largest London-focused real estate investment trust, Derwent London owns 84 commercial buildings in central London. The company’s core business revolves around purchasing properties in central London off-market with low capital, consequently improving them. Its flagship properties include Brunel Building W2, White Collar Factory, and Angel Building EC1.
In addition to acquiring and developing properties, the company also continues to support local communities in 2012 as part of the Community Fund initiative; it supported 89 community projects in the Tech belt.
Derwent London is a public company listed on the London Stock Exchange. It is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.
