Diageo is a conglomerate in the beverage production and distribution business. Founded in 1997 following the merger of Guinness and Grand Metropolitan, it was once the world’s largest distiller before being overtaken in 2017 by Kweichow Moutai.
The company is currently headquartered in London, England and has operations in six continents. Its flagship product is Smirnoff ranked as the world’s bestselling vodka. Its other notable brands include Johnnie Walker, Baileys, and Guinness from which it generates a significant amount of revenues. Diageo has operations in over 180 countries supported by officers in about 80 countries.
Just like other beverages companies, the company has grown through acquisitions. One of its biggest acquisition is Mey Icki, a Turkish liquor company it acquired for $2.1 billion
The company’s stock is currently listed on the London Stock Exchange as well as the New York Stock Exchange.
