Essar Energy is an energy-focused company formed in 1998 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Essar Group. With headquarters in Port Louis Mauritius, the company mostly focuses on Indian Energy operations touching on oil and gas. Following its formation in 2010, the company’s stock was partly floated on the London Stock Exchange. It was later delisted following a full takeover by the majority shareholder.

The fully integrated oil and gas company has a strong presence across India, the U.K as well as Kenya. In the U.K, it operates the Stanlow refinery that supplies about 16% of all the fuel used in the Kingdom. In India, it is engaged in oil and gas exploration and production. It also owns the petroleum refinery in Vadinar Jamnagar district Gujarat, the second-largest refinery in India. The company is also engaged in power generation in India and Canada.

Essar Energy PLC oil and gas operations are carried out through Essar Oil Limited, currently listed on the National Stock Exchange Of India.
