Flybe Group

Flybe Group PLC was founded as Jersey European Airways in 1979, and was established by John Habin. Its formation resulted from a merger between Intra Airways and the Express Air Services. The two were based in Jersey and Bournemouth, respectively.

Since formation, the Group had a series of changes in its management until it repositioned its name to Flybe in 2002. It acquired several companies before settling its headquarters in Exeter, Devon. However, in 2019, Flybe Group PLC was bought by Connect Airways consortium. Word has it that it will be rebranded to Virgin Connect in 2020.

The company operates in 15 countries with 203 routes. This makes it the largest regional airline in Europe. It has the recognition of being the best UK-based airline, which is punctual, with its largest base of operation being at the Birmingham Airport. Meanwhile, Flybe Group PLC has been a member of the LSE market.
