HSBC is a financial juggernaut established in 1865 by Scot, Thomas Sutherland. The company came into being as Sutherland sought to address the banking needs of people living in Hong Kong and the China Coast. The financial institution gets its name from the name Hong Kong merged with Shanghai Banking Corporation. HSBC is credited as the pioneer of many banking practices. It was the first bank to grace the Thailand market going as far as printing the country’s first banknotes.

Headquartered in London England, the bank has grown to have operations in 65 countries spread across Europe, Asia, America, and North Africa. The bank operates through key segments of retail banking, wealth management as well as commercial banking and global banking.

HSBC stock is currently listed in Hong Kong as well as in the U.K on the London Stock Exchange. It also boast of listings in the U.S on the New York Stock Exchange, as well as in France, and the Bermuda Stock Exchange.
