Ophir Energy

Jonathan Taylor and Alan Stein established Ophir Energy Plc in 2004 as a hydrocarbon exploration and production company. Primarily, the company operated in Asia, Mexico, and Africa. The company grew to specialize in upstream activity in addition to producing, developing, and exploring assets. Ophir draws its customers from across the world.

In 2011, Ophir listed on the London Stock Exchange, where it traded under OPHR as the ticker symbol. However, the company delisted in mid-2019 after Medco Energi Global PTE Ltd acquired it. Medco is an oil and gas company based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The company started operating in 1980 under the leadership and ownership of Arifin Panigoro.

Since acquiring Ophir, Medco ensured that the company continues to pursue its long-term goals, especially on developing assets based in Asia. In addition, Ophir, as a constituent of Medco, has embarked on cutting down its exposure to exploration portfolios that carry huge amounts of risk. Before its acquisition, Ophir had its headquarters in London, the United Kingdom.
