Rank Group

Joseph Arthur Rank and his business associates founded the General Cinema Finance Co. in 1936. The company later morphed to become the Rank Organization whose primary business objective was to show motion pictures in cinemas in theaters across Britain. Over the years, the company has expanded its services to include gaming-based entertainment. Rank acquired several businesses along the way, including D & P Studios, Mecca Leisure Group in 1990, and Blue Square Ltd in 2003.

In 1956, Rank started manufacturing xerographic machines, which contributed immensely to the company’s bottom line. However, the main business remains entertainment where operations are structured in three segments, namely Gaming, Cafes and Casinos, and Film and Media. The company operates in Spain, Great Britain, and Belgium with a desire to expand to more jurisdictions. Rank Group trades as RNK on the London Stock Exchange and has its headquarters in Berkshire, United Kingdom.
