RIT Capital Partners plc traces its origin from the formation of Rothschild Investment Trust. This was in 1961, and it was an initiative of Jacob Rothschild. The company was renamed to RIT & Northern in 1982 before becoming RIT Capital Partners plc in 2012.

The investment trust has international operations with a regional office in London, UK. As a result of a combination of acquisitions and internal growth, the company has become an icon in the financial services industry.

Its focus is on three key areas Exceptional External Managers, Public Equity, and Private Investments.
