Born in the early 1980s following the deregulation of the British express coach, Stagecoach has evolved to become a juggernaut in public transportation. The company has three main operations the U.K. Bus Regional Operations, U.K. Bus London Operations, and Rail.
Stagecoach offers bus coach rail and tram services in key cities across the U.K. it operates a fleet of more than 6,000 buses and coaches buses across Liverpool, Newcastle Hull as well as Manchester and Cambridge,
The company also operates train services across southwest England from London. It also operates Island Line services and the East Midlands mainline train services. Stagecoach Group plc. operates a 28 km light rail network in the city of Sheffield.
The company has its stock listed on the London Stock Exchange even though chairman Brian Souter and Sister Ann Gloag own a quarter of the company.
