Travis Perkins

A carpenter Benjamin Ingram, founded Benjamin Ingram Company in 1797. The company brought together carpenters and joiners from around London. In 1850, the Ingram Company merged with Perkins, which was managed by the Perkins family. Hence, the new company changed its name to Ingram Perkins, a name it held until merging with Sandell Smythe & Drayson in 1970. The new company, called Sandell Perkins, was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1986 until its merger with Travis & Arnold just two years after listing. Further acquisitions took place, and Travis Perkins cemented its position as a major player in the Industrials sector.

Travis Perkins supplies products used in building and improving homes; its divisions are General Merchanting, Consumer, Contracts, and Plumbing & Heating. Travis Perkins operates in China, Ireland, and the United States, with headquarters in Northampton, U.K.
