TSB Banking Group

TSB Banking Group’s history stretches back to 1810 when Reverend Henry Duncan established the first trustee savings bank. Primarily, the institution’s objective was to encourage people with small incomes to practice financial responsibility. The individual trustee savings banks (TSB) existed before the 1980s, after which they amalgamated into a single corporate structure that operated as a normal bank. By 1994, the TSB was among the top ten largest banks in the U.K.

UK-based Lloyds Bank merged with TSB in 1995 to form Lloyds TSB Plc. However, Lloyds Bank later divested TSB, which was then acquired by Sabadell Group. The new company, TSB Banking Group plc, was taken private and now operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sabadell Group. TSB offers retail banking services as well as commercial banking, general insurance, and life insurance, with headquarter in Edinburgh, Scotland. TSB serves customers across the United Kingdom through branches totaling more than 500.
