Visa Inc.  casts itself as a financial services company founded in 1970. The company core business revolves around enabling electronic fund transfers around the world. It operates VisaNet a network that allows financial institutions to authorize clear and settle payment transactions.

Contrary to perception, the financial services company does not issue cards, extend credit or set rates. Instead, it provides financial institutions visa branded products that they can use to offer credit debt and cash access programs

Headquartered in San Francisco, the payment services company boasts of operations in six continents whereby it processes transactions through heavily secured data centers. It is billed as the second card payment company behind China’ UnionPay.
