How to buy AirSwap online – a step-by-step guide

Step 1. Find an exchange

The best place to buy cryptocurrencies are from dedicated crypto exchanges. Once you set up an account on one of the exchanges, you can buy and sell a range of coins, and transactions take only a few seconds. The best place to buy AirSwap ($AST) is Binance

  • Binance: Binance is one of the biggest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world. On Binance you will find AirSwap and hundreds of other tokens available to trade. There are many tutorials on its website to help you get started on the exchange. Sign up for Binance now >

Step 2. Sign up and fund your account

To use the exchange, you must first set up an account and make a deposit. To make a monetary deposit via credit/debit card payment you must first provide your ID and contact details. Binance may take a few working days to authorise your account.

Step 3. Purchase

Use the search function on the Binance exchange to find AST. The search bar will display AirSwap and all the available pairings. Currently, you may only be able to buy AST using BTC (Bitcoin), displayed as AST/BTC. You will see the AirSwap price denominated in BTC.

Since there is no trading pair for United States Dollars or Great British Pounds, you will need to first purchase some Bitcoin using fiat. This can be done by using your credit or debit card. Once you have some Bitcoin you can then trade it for AirSwap.

Step 4. (Optional) Get a suitable wallet

After completing the transaction, you will see your AirSwap tokens available in your exchange wallet on Binance. You can keep your AirSwap tokens on Binance or send them to a personalised crypto wallet off the exchange where you will have more control over them. Below are a few wallets that you can use to hold your AirSwap tokens:

  • Ledger Nano S: As a hardware wallet, Ledger Nano S allows you to store your tokens on a physical device. It resembles a USB stick, and your tokens can be managed from any computer and even your mobile phone using their app. Get the Nano S now >
  • Freewallet: A free online web browser wallet that you can easily sign up to and get started with. Freewallet lets you manage your coins through the browser or on your phone. Get Freewallet today >

How to trade AirSwap – a step-by-step guide

Step 1. Find a broker

Trading a coin involves buying and selling a coin throughout the day (the way traders buy and sell stocks). When trading, it’s best to use a low-fee broker so you avoid paying high trading fees on each trade you make.

Currently, there are no brokers that offer AirSwap for trading. Using an exchange is the best way to do day trading with AirSwap. As the coin grows in popularity, brokers such as eToro and Plus500 may add the coin to be a tradable asset.

Step 2. Create an account and deposit money

To sign up to any broker you will need to provide your contact details and make a deposit to fund your account. The steps are like signing up to an exchange. PayPal, bank transfers and credit/debit card payments are commonly used to fund a brokerage account.

Step 3. Learn how to perform technical analysis

Traders use technical analysis to try to determine which direction a financial asset may go. This can be done by analysing an asset’s price history and using that information to decide if it would be best to buy or sell (or hold onto) an asset. Learn more about trading strategies and technical analysis by taking our short term trading course

Step 4. Decide whether to go long or short

When trading on an exchange or broker you will have the option to take a long position (to bet the asset will rise) or short position (to bet the asset will fall). Use your own analysis to decide on which position to take.

Step 5. Make the trade

To perform a trade simply go to the trading page of your chosen exchange or broker. There, you can decide to either buy or sell an asset at its current price, or to buy/sell an asset once it’s reached a specific price. Enter how much you would like to buy/sell then confirm the trade.

Should I invest in AirSwap?

AirSwap will appeal to investors who would like to take part in the development of one of crypto’s strongest P2P (peer-to-peer) trading platforms. Staking the $AST token gives users voting rights on the future of the platform, while participating unlocks rewards.

The way AirSwap’s community driven system works is welcoming, and it encourages users to take an active role in AirSwap’s future endeavours. It’s a great way to keep the current user base active, as well as attracting newcomers who are interested in the platform’s technology and the inner workings of a DAO (decentralised autonomous organisation).

The strength of its community will ensure AirSwap has a continued residency in crypto. As a result, it’s not hard to believe that AirSwaps long term position will translate into gradual price increases as more investors start using the platform.

Still undecided?

If you’re still on the fence about AirSwap, then let us lend a hand. Below are some pros and cons to help you make a decision.

Pros

  • The team at AirSwap have been continuously building their product since 2017
  • AirSwap offers a unique service that is needed in crypto
  • Airswap has a very responsive community and DAO

Cons

Finally, here are three more questions to help you decide whether to invest in AirSwap.

1. Is now a good time to buy AirSwap?

Because it is a governance token, anytime is a good time to invest in AirSwap if you’re drawn to the benefits of participating in the DAO. It seems the platform can only keep gaining more users and interest in the future. There’s no telling if this interest will have an effect on the price as it depends on the willingness of new users to participate in the DAO.

It is if you’re interested in AirSwap’s technology and would like to take an active part in the decisions made behind the platform. In that case, purchasing $AST and staking is the best way to go. Otherwise, trading will be a better alternative, but be sure to wait for a good entry price, preferably when the general market is down.

Along with studying the price, you can use technical analysis and trading indicators to help you time your entry. If you need help deciding when the best time to buy is, then simply follow the links below to view our team’s suggestions.

2. What problem does AirSwap solve, and what are its investment prospects?

AirSwap makes decentralised crypto P2P trading possible. Without it, those who want to do P2P trading will have to find other less attractive alternatives or use a centralised platform that may require users to give up complete control of their funds.

There are a few competitors, like Kraken Exchange’s OTC Desk, but they do not have an active DAO like AirSwap. That’s a positive, but unless major game-changing news for AirSwap is announced, it would be wise to consider AirSwap not as a short-term play, but as more of a long-term sit and hold.

Like any investment, it’s best to only buy what you can afford to potentially lose. If you decide to invest, try to keep up to date with company progress and general market news, which you can do using the links below.

3. Do you want to hold AirSwap for the long term?

Market conditions and the vitality of AirSwap’s progress influence how well the coin will perform. Below are some things to consider when holding AirSwap, whether you have a long term or short term strategy in mind.

Considerations for a long-term investment strategy

Time in the market beats timing the market. For the long-term it’s best to wait for dips or lulls in the market before finding an exchange to stock up on tokens. After getting your tokens be sure to consider sending them to your personal wallet.

Considerations for a short-term trading strategy

Trading short-term, it’s generally a good idea to make decisions based on your own analysis of a token’s chart. If an opportunity arises where you can make a successful trade, pick a broker and utilise their low trading fees to execute your strategy.
