Air transport licensing

Updated: Aug 20, 2021

For a i.e. British airline to operate a scheduled or charter flight service it must first apply for, and obtain, an air transport licence. These licences are at present only obtainable from the civil aviation authority, which will hear any objections raised and which is bound by law to satisfy itself that the airiine is British and efficiently run. Considerable attention is given to the safety standards incorporated in the structure of the applicant airiine and it is presumed that such standards can only be maintained by a financially sound company.
