Assignment of leases

Where a lease is wholly assigned, the original lessee remains liable to the lessor but may have redress against the sub-lessee. The lessor may also sue the sub-lessee directly. Where only part of the term of a lease is assigned, the lessor’s rights are only against the original lessee.
