Deintellectualization

The process of ‘dumbing down’ in education and society in general. It is typified by the current popularity of qualitative degree subjects relative to quantitative degree subjects, and by the replacement of departments of economics by schools of business. Deintellectualization has also led to the growth of ‘management speak’ as a substitute for informed and reasoned argument.
