Illegal partnerships

Partnerships formed for illegal purposes are void ab initio. As a general rule, partnerships consisting of more than twenty persons are illegal: such businesses must be registered as companies. Larger partnerships of acountants, solicitors and stock-brokers are permitted (UK Companies Act 1971).
