Quantity Surveyors, Institute of
This was founded in 1938 and aims: (1) to develop the science and techniques of quantity surveying; (2) to recruit suitable persons to the profession; (3) to help members in the performance of their task; (4) to give them recognized status; (5) to protect the public by ensuring that only suitable persons should be allowed to use their distinguishing letters and designation; (6) to maintain satisfactory standards of professional etiquette. Membership is open only to quantity surveyors proper and not to general surveyors. Members must pass the examinations set out in its regulations and syllabus.
