Updated: Aug 20, 2021

A policy in India that reserves a proportion of places in public jobs and higher education institutions for disadvantaged or underrepresented groups. These groups are primarily determined by a caste or tribe membership; certain reservation provisions concern gender and religion. Some private firms take voluntary measures to offer employment incentives to workers belonging to these groups.
