About the BATS Global Markets

BATS Global Markets (previously known as “Better Alternative Trading Systems”) was a US-based exchange that engages with numerous types of investments. It is now fully owned by CBOE Global Markets. The exchange traded equities, options, and foreign exchange, among other investments. Founded in 2005, the exchange was relatively young when it was acquired by CBOE Holdings in 2017. Prior to being acquired by CBOE, the BATS Global Market was one of the largest US exchanges and rivalled the New York Stock Exchange – the largest stock exchange in the world. It was based in Kansas City, with further offices in both New York and London.
