About the Bombay Stock Exchange

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) is both the first and largest securities market in India. Established in 1875 (as the Native Share and Stock Brokers’ Association), the exchange lists around 6,000 companies and sits among the New York Stock Exchange, London Stock Exchange Group, Japan Exchange Group, and Shanghai Stock Exchange as one of the largest exchanges in the world. It is based at Dalal Street in Mumbai and has an average daily turnover of Rs 2,93,526 crore and a rough market capitalisation of Rs 15,970.86 billion crore.
