Forex: USD/CAD Hits 1.0185

The USD/CAD has been trading slightly lower today, after volatility yesterday. The quote started the day at 1.0165 and has hit 1.0185 high so far.

At 13:30 BST today the US Bureau of Economic Analysis released the current account statement for the first quarter of the year, showing that the deficit widened 3.7 percent in the period to $106.1 billion, from the prior quarter’s revised $102.3 billion.
And Canadian Manufacturing Sales April m/m unexpectedly declined by a seasonally adjusted 2.4 percent. Analyst expectations were for a 0.3 percent rise.
On a more positive note, Canadian Capacity Utilization improved to 81.1 percent in the first quarter of 2014, up from 80.5 percent in the prior period. And the country’s New Housing Price Index for April m/m increased 0.2 percent compared to 0.1 percent rice in March. The year-on-year value remained unchanged at 2.0 percent.
