What is Blackberry?

BlackBerry (NYSE: BB) has been around since 2010 and is perhaps best known as a Canadian mobile phone manufacturer. If you have ever seen a handset with a large QWERTY keyboard taking up half of the device, it may well be a Blackberry.

In recent years, with the rise of Apple, Samsung and Huawei’s flagship handsets, Blackberry has struggled to reestablish its position in the market. So, in recent years, it has segued towards security software.

Why is Blackberry stock rising in value?

There haven’t been any major rumours or news events. This surge is the result of a short squeeze orchestrated by WallStreetBets, a Reddit forum filled with passionate retail investors.

Should I buy BB stock?

That depends on what you are looking for in your investment. Right now, the fundamentals have gone out of the window, so make sure you tread carefully. Volatility is inevitable and you need to make sensible, informed decisions based on the technical factors available to analyse.

Will Blackberry shares make me rich?

This is highly unlikely, though given the dramatic rise of both GameStop and AMC Entertainment, we wouldn’t rule it out entirely. Just don’t bank on it, because going into an investment with the mindset of ‘get rich or die trying’ is a surefire recipe for disaster.

Blackberry price prediction

Once again, given that this stock’s market behaviour has a massive disconnect with its fundamental value right now, it is extremely hard to provide a BB price target. However, given its recent momentum, we would be far from surprised to see a substantial rise in the coming weeks. Right now, BB is at $16, and some analysts and traders have suggested it could shoot up towards the $50 mark.
