As blockchain technology keeps impacting on several industries, FC. Barcelona fans would have cause to smile as their darling team has now rolled out its own blockchain-based fan token.
FC. Barcelona has always strived to bring better services to their teeming fans. The football club is partnering with Chiliz, a blockchain-based fan engagement company to launch the token by the end of the current football season.
On the club’s official webpage page, it announced that the club is always putting its fans first in whatever the company does. That’s the reason why it decided to partner with its new global partner, @socios, to offer Barcelona’s official fan tokens.
Fan Token offering starts this year
The Fan Token Offering will commence in the second quarter of this year, as about 40 million tokens of BAR, with initial offerings at €2 per token, would be available for sale.
This is not the first time Barcelona is exposing its members on Blockchain related business. In the ambassador role their most valuable player, Lionel Messi, had for Sirin Labs project, the company used the crypto wallet provider Rakuten to establish that deal. Also, Rakuten was involved again when the club partnered with them in the club’s shirt sponsorship deal.
The deal offers the opportunity to earn rewards
Supporters would now have access to some voting aspects in the club and earn rewards for their participation. They can use the Barca Fan Token (BAR) via the socios.com portal. The club said the reward would be in the form of great unique experiences and exclusive merchandise of the club.
Deal could bring Barcelona fans closer to the club
According to FC Barcelona head of Commercial Area and Board Member, Josep Pont, the deal with Chiliz will offer FC Barcelona fans the opportunity to draw closer to the club. It will also set up an innovative partnership and marketing activations. Besides, the partnership will improve the digital realm and accessibility of various stuff of the club to all its fans all over the world.
Pont reiterated that the new partnership is part of the club’s goal to have strong ties with leading brands that can help the club consolidate its new digital and commercial strategy. It will also facilitate the development of new income generation streams, helping the club maintain its financial, sporting, and economic benchmark.
The deal will raise massive awareness for blockchain in the mainstream
Alexandre Dreyfus, founder, and CEO of Socios.com and Chiliz said his company is happy to engage with FC Barcelona’s over 300 million fans throughout the world. He also revealed that the deal with Socio.com and FC Barcelona fans brings the company closer to its ambition of adoption of blockchain technology in the mainstream.
He further said that whenever a fan downloads the blockchain-based app, there will be increased adoption of the blockchain, which will strengthen the case for the massive adoption of the technology.
