  • Entrepreneur magazine has been ranking top 500 franchises in the whole of the United States since 1979.
  • Throughout history, the ranking got more and more competitive, making it difficult for most franchises to remain at the top for as little as two years in a row.
  • A few top American real estate franchises include HomeVestors of America, RE/MAX, and Keller Williams.

Since the 70s, Entrepreneur has been ranking top 500 franchises in the whole of the United States. According to the magazine, they rank the companies based on growth/size, fees/costs, financial muscle/stability, brand popularity, and franchisee support.

Throughout history, the ranking got more and more competitive, making it difficult for most franchises to remain at the top for as little as two years in a row.

But despite that, some companies, especially in the real estate sector, have been consistent in their performance, affording them a spot among the best almost every year. Without further ado, here are the top three real estate franchises in 2020:

HomeVestors of America

Founded in 1996, the Dallas-headquartered franchise is one of the world’s leading property franchises focused on acquisition and renovation of older units. For more than two decades now, HomeVestors of America has been buying and adding value to older and low-cost properties and later disposing them at a profit.

The firm’s business model seems to be paying off, with the number of franchises steadily increasing to 1,102 today from 191 in 2011.

The Entrepreneur franchise 500 list placed the firm at position 19, and ahead of all the companies in the property space.

HomeVestors of America’s initial franchise fee ranges from $56,000 to $426,250.

RE/MAX

If you’ve been in the property industry for a while, you’ve probably come across this Denver-based franchise with a total portfolio of about 8, 361 units. RE/MAX was established in 1975 and managed to add about 376 units in 2019 alone.

Possessing one of the most impressive growth rates in an industry known for minimal price movements, RE/MAX boasts a bevvy of features for franchisees including online support, security measures, field operations, proprietary software, and much more.

The company came in position 40 in the latest Entrepreneur franchise 500 list, with an initial franchise fee of between $40,000 to $284,000.

Keller Williams

Keller Williams is undoubtedly one of the oldest boys in the game. With a portfolio comprising 1,026 units to date, the franchise has achieved tremendous growth in the last decade both in the US and internationally. As of 2011, only 15 Keller Williams franchises existed. However, in under a decade, it has secured more than two hundred franchises locally and abroad.

For you to acquire this franchise, you’d have to part with anything between $183,947 to $336,995.

Keller Williams was established in1987 and came in 47th place in the recent Entrepreneur franchise 500 list.
