Exxon Mobil Corporation is an international energy corporation specializing in the production of oil and gas products. It is the world’s largest oil company with headquarters in Irving, Texas with operations worldwide. It produces a number of energy products including crude oil, natural gas, petrochemicals, power generation, and oil products.
It was established in 1999 following a merger between Exxon Company and Mobil. The firm owns several brands, including Exxon, Esso, ExxonMobil Chemical, and Mobil. The history of dates back to 1882, when John D. Rockefeller and other partners, established a Standard Oil Company in Ohio.
Currently, the company is the largest NGO owned firm in the energy sector and produces 3 percent of oil across the world. Furthermore, ExxonMobil owns several subsidiaries, including Imperial Oil Ltd and SeaRiver Maritime. It has three main divisions; Upstream, Downstream, and chemical division. Currently, the company is involved in research on clean energy technologies such as algae biofuels and biodiesel.
