Bitvavo’s exchange is easily accessible with just the click of a button from its homepage. Once you are on the web-based platform, navigation is straightforward with a ‘buy’ and ‘sell’ box on the left-hand side, and market depth and other charts front and center.
In other aspects, such as in terms of trading tools, the exchange is rather bare-bones and simplistic. That caters to beginner investors but it might not offer enough to interest anyone looking for more advanced features.
Key features
Bitvavo keeps its exchange feature-light but there are some features which make it more appealing, such as the ones below:
Free hosted wallet
Bitvavo provides a hosted wallet in which your digital currencies can be stored easily and securely. This is one of the perks that comes along with your free Bitvavo account and the exchange will automatically provide you with a hosted wallet for every digital currency it has available for trading.
Semi-customisable exchange interface

Low fixed fees for high volume traders

The account guarantee protects you from any malicious activity by insuring your account up to €100,000. This comes into force if anyone hacks into your Bitvavo account and takes or misappropriates your money.
Affiliate program
The Bitvavo affiliate program is one of the most generous in the industry and means you can earn passive income just by spreading the word among your friends and connections. For every person you refer you earn 15% commission on their trading fees. The more active the people you refer, the more money you can earn.

Extra information
Educational resources
Bitvavo offers a huge amount of educational support to teach you about cryptocurrency through Bitvavo Learn. If you’re a complete beginner, you can learn about the basics of how blockchains work, and the technology that underpins crypto wallets, NFTs, and mining.
More advanced users can find information more tailored to their level as well. There are tutorials that cover different types of blockchain, as well as details that are important to a crypto trader, such as how new coins are created, how to place different types of order, and technical patterns that you need to understand.
Tools and charting
Bitvavo’s exchange features can best be described as standard, but nothing more. Beyond different timeframes, trade indicators, and live market data, there is little functionality one can take advantage of and there are no advanced features.
Customer support
Bitvavo’s customer support section is expansive, with documentation and resources on just about everything you would want to know. From getting started to deposits and withdrawals, and much more.
While there is no live chat support, there is a support email that can be contacted any time should you find yourself in need of additional assistance.
Our verdict
Bitvavo is an exchange that’s best for novice traders. It has a clean interface and a straightforward trading platform, and combines those with a plethora of support guides to help you get started. However, beyond that it’s quite limited.
To start with, 60 cryptocurrencies is only an adequate range of coins. Then there is no mobile app, desktop trading platform, or advanced features. The latter omission is particularly glaring as Bitvavo has set out its stall to cater to high volume traders.
For these reasons and the lack of emphasis on educational resources (none are offered), we believe there are platforms out there that offer much more than Bitvavo does at this time.
