DFIN serves two main customer groups: capital markets clients and investment company clients. For investment companies, it provides tools and services used by mutual funds and other regulated firms to produce, manage, file, and distribute required disclosures and investor documents.

The company’s operations are reported across four segments: Capital Markets Software Solutions, Capital Markets Compliance and Communications Management, Investment Companies Software Solutions, and Investment Companies Compliance and Communications Management. Its largest revenue source is Capital Markets Compliance and Communications Management, which includes technology-enabled services as well as print and distribution capabilities. DFIN also continues to shift parts of its business toward software-as-a-service platforms, reflecting demand for more automated, secure, and data-driven compliance workflows.

Although Donnelley Financial Solutions has an international presence across Europe, Asia, Canada, and other markets, the United States accounts for most of its revenue. Its results are influenced by regulatory filing activity, capital markets issuance, M&A volumes, fund industry compliance needs, and the pace at which clients adopt digital disclosure and workflow software.
