Cartesi (CTSI)
Cartesi (CTSI) is a blockchain infrastructure project that lets developers build application-specific rollups while using familiar software tools outside the usual limits of the Ethereum Virtual Machine. Its core idea is to bring mainstream computing environments to decentralized applications, allowing builders to work with Linux, established programming languages, mature libraries, and conventional development workflows while still anchoring applications to blockchain security.
The Cartesi technology stack includes Cartesi Rollups, an execution framework that can be deployed as layer 2, layer 3, or sovereign appchain rollups. These rollups use the Cartesi Machine, a RISC-V virtual machine capable of running a Linux operating system, to process more complex computations than standard smart contract environments typically support. This architecture is intended to give each application its own scalable execution space while preserving verifiability through fraud-proof mechanisms.
CTSI is the native token of the Cartesi ecosystem. It is used in staking and governance, and it is designed to support the network’s validator economy as Cartesi applications require independent parties to monitor execution and challenge invalid results. The project’s planned validator marketplace is intended to connect appchain developers with validation service providers, creating a direct link between application activity and token-based incentives.
Cartesi stands out by focusing on developer flexibility. Instead of asking programmers to rebuild complex applications entirely within constrained smart contract languages, it aims to make decentralized software more compatible with decades of existing computing infrastructure.
