Chainflip (FLIP)
Chainflip (FLIP) is a decentralized cross-chain exchange protocol built to let users swap native crypto assets across different blockchains without relying on wrapped tokens or conventional bridge custody models. Its core purpose is to make moving value between major networks feel closer to a direct exchange, while preserving self-custody throughout the transaction process.
The protocol uses a design known as a Just-in-Time automated market maker, or JIT AMM. Rather than depending only on static liquidity pools, Chainflip aims to source competitive pricing by allowing liquidity to be supplied in response to swap demand. This architecture is intended to support efficient execution for cross-chain trades while remaining general enough to work with multiple networks and transaction formats.
Chainflip is secured by a decentralized validator set. Validators stake the native FLIP token to participate in protocol operations and receive rewards. FLIP therefore functions primarily as a utility and security token within the network, helping align validator incentives with the reliability of the swapping system.
A distinctive feature of Chainflip’s token economics is its buy-and-burn mechanism. Swap activity can trigger the purchase and destruction of FLIP through the protocol’s liquidity pool system, which is designed to reduce token supply pressure as usage grows. The project competes in the broader interoperability and decentralized exchange market, alongside bridges, cross-chain routers, and liquidity aggregation protocols. Its main differentiator is the focus on native asset swaps without wrapping, combined with validator-based security and an execution model tailored for cross-chain liquidity.
