Flux (FLUX)

FLUX is a mineable proof-of-work cryptocurrency and is used across the network for payments, transaction fees, collateral and incentives. Node operators provide computing resources to the Flux network and receive rewards for supporting decentralised hosting and application deployment. Miners also help secure the blockchain, while FluxNode collateral requirements are intended to align participants with the health of the ecosystem.

The project’s infrastructure includes FluxOS, a Linux-based operating environment for deploying decentralised applications, and FluxCloud, which provides distributed compute, storage and hosting capacity. The wider product suite also includes tools such as Zelcore Wallet, FluxAI, FluxEdge, the SSP multisig browser wallet and FusionX, a swap aggregation service. Flux also supports parallel assets, which are designed to improve interoperability with other blockchains and give users access to additional DeFi environments.

As of May 2025, the project reports a global network of roughly 11,500 decentralised nodes, representing more than 96,000 CPU cores, 230 terabytes of RAM and over 6.1 petabytes of storage. This scale is central to Flux’s positioning as a decentralised cloud alternative. Its long-term relevance depends on developer adoption, network reliability, competition from traditional cloud providers and other decentralised infrastructure projects, and continued demand for censorship-resistant Web3 hosting.
