The asset is issued against cash-equivalent reserves through governance-approved “enshrined custodians,” which are responsible for minting and redeeming frxUSD under the framework set by the Frax ecosystem. This model is intended to connect conventional reserve management with blockchain-based settlement, giving users a digital dollar instrument that can circulate across decentralized applications while remaining anchored to fiat-backed collateral. The design differs from Frax’s earlier fractional-algorithmic approach by emphasizing full collateral backing and clearer redemption mechanics.
