Sonic (S)
Sonic is an EVM-compatible layer 1 blockchain built for high-throughput decentralised applications, with a particular focus on DeFi. By supporting the Ethereum Virtual Machine, Sonic allows developers to deploy familiar smart contracts and use widely adopted Ethereum tooling while operating on its own network. The project positions itself around fast execution, low-latency settlement, and infrastructure designed for applications that require frequent transactions.
The network highlights sub-second finality and very high transaction capacity as core technical goals. These features are intended to support trading platforms, lending protocols, on-chain games, payment applications, and other services where slow confirmation times can create poor user experiences. Compatibility with Ethereum also matters because it reduces friction for developers and gives users a clearer path between Sonic and the broader EVM ecosystem.
One of Sonic’s most distinctive features is its Fee Monetization, or FeeM, programme. Under this model, developers can receive a large share of the transaction fees generated by their applications. The idea is to give builders a direct economic incentive tied to actual usage, similar in spirit to web-based revenue-sharing models but implemented within a decentralised blockchain environment.
Sonic also includes the Sonic Gateway, a native bridge designed to connect the network with Ethereum liquidity. Secure bridging is an important part of any new layer 1 ecosystem because users need confidence when moving assets between chains. The S token is associated with this network economy, where demand is linked to activity, applications, liquidity, and developer adoption across the Sonic ecosystem.
