Goldfinch (GFI)

The protocol uses a marketplace structure in which borrowers seek funding through credit pools, while participants supply capital according to their risk appetite. Backers assess individual borrower pools and provide first-loss capital, while other liquidity providers can gain more diversified exposure through senior pools where available. This structure is intended to combine decentralized capital formation with credit assessment and risk sharing.

GFI is the governance and utility token associated with Goldfinch. Token holders can participate in protocol governance, helping shape parameters, incentives, and upgrades. The asset is therefore tied not just to lending activity but also to the direction of the Goldfinch ecosystem.

Goldfinch is part of the broader real-world asset and private credit segment within decentralized finance. Its distinctive feature is the attempt to move beyond crypto-native collateral and support loans backed by off-chain business activity and cash flows.
