Optimism (OP)

The OP Stack provides modular software for launching optimistic rollup-based chains. It has been adopted by a number of high-profile networks, including Coinbase’s Base, Uniswap’s Unichain, Kraken’s Ink, and Worldcoin’s World Chain. This positions Optimism not only as a single layer 2, but as infrastructure for a multi-chain Ethereum environment in which different applications and businesses can run their own chains with shared standards.

A defining feature of Optimism is its economic model. Chains that join the Superchain are expected to contribute a portion of revenue or on-chain profit back to the Optimism Collective, creating a funding loop intended to support public goods, protocol development, and ecosystem growth. This approach links the success of individual OP Chains to the health of the wider network.

The OP token is used for governance rather than gas payments on OP Mainnet. Holders can participate in decisions covering protocol upgrades, incentive programs, treasury allocations, and other matters affecting the Collective. For investors and users, Optimism represents a bet on Ethereum scaling through shared infrastructure, standardized rollup technology, and coordinated governance across an expanding family of chains.
