Hexcel (HXL)
NYSE Market Open
Hexcel Corporation is a specialist materials company focused on advanced composites used in demanding aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. The company makes carbon fiber, reinforcement fabrics, prepregs, adhesives, honeycomb cores, resins, and engineered composite structures that help manufacturers reduce weight while maintaining strength, stiffness, and durability.
Its products are deeply embedded in commercial aircraft programs, where lighter materials can improve fuel efficiency and operating performance. Hexcel materials are used in airframes, wings, nacelles, interiors, rotor blades, and other structural and semi-structural components. The company also serves military aircraft, helicopters, space systems, and selected industrial markets such as wind energy and other high-performance applications.
Hexcel’s business is closely tied to the aerospace supply chain. Airbus and Boeing are major end customers, both directly and through tier-one suppliers and subcontractors, making aircraft production rates and airline fleet demand important drivers of revenue. The company’s long qualification cycles and technical expertise create high barriers to entry, as composite materials used in flight-critical structures must meet stringent performance, safety, and certification standards.
Founded in 1948, Hexcel takes its name from the honeycomb structures that became an early hallmark of its lightweight materials portfolio. Today, the company occupies a niche position in the aerospace materials market, combining proprietary manufacturing processes with long-running customer relationships. For investors, Hexcel represents exposure to the continued use of composites in aviation, defense modernization, and the broader push for lighter, more efficient structures.
