SELLAS Life Sciences Group, Inc. is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing cancer therapies that aim to address malignancies with significant unmet medical need. The company’s work centres on immuno-oncology and targeted treatment approaches, with programmes designed for patients whose cancers are difficult to treat using standard chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, or existing targeted medicines.
Its lead candidate, galinpepimut-S, commonly known as GPS, is a peptide-based immunotherapy directed at Wilms tumor 1, or WT1. WT1 is an antigen expressed in a range of haematologic cancers and solid tumours, making it a potential target for immune-based treatment strategies. GPS is designed to stimulate an immune response against WT1-expressing cancer cells and has been studied across multiple indications, including acute myeloid leukaemia and other cancer settings.
SELLAS is also developing GFH009, a selective small-molecule inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinase 9, or CDK9. CDK9 is involved in transcriptional regulation and cancer cell survival pathways, and inhibition of this target is being explored as a way to disrupt growth signals in certain tumours. The company positions GFH009 as a targeted oncology candidate with potential relevance in both blood cancers and solid tumours.
As a late-stage biotechnology business, SELLAS does not operate like a commercial pharmaceutical company with diversified product sales. Its value is closely tied to clinical trial progress, regulatory outcomes, intellectual property, financing capacity, and the competitive landscape for oncology drug development.
