Tesla, Inc. is an electric vehicle manufacturer, energy technology company, and developer of artificial intelligence systems for real-world applications. The company is best known for its battery electric cars, including the Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck, while it also produces the Semi for commercial transport. Tesla has discussed future products and services such as a next-generation Roadster and robotaxi offerings, reflecting its ambition to combine vehicle manufacturing with autonomous driving software.
Tesla’s business model is more vertically integrated than many traditional automakers. It designs key vehicle systems, develops software in-house, sells directly to consumers in many markets, and operates its own service, charging, and over-the-air update ecosystem. Its Supercharger network is a major part of the company’s customer proposition and has also become strategically important as other manufacturers adopt or gain access to Tesla’s charging standard in North America.
Beyond vehicles, Tesla sells energy generation and storage products. Its Powerwall battery targets homes, while Megapack serves utilities and large commercial customers that need grid-scale storage. The company also offers solar products and has an insurance business in selected markets.
A distinctive part of Tesla’s investment profile is its emphasis on autonomy and AI. The company develops driver-assistance software, pursues self-driving capability, and is working on the Optimus humanoid robot. Its performance depends on vehicle demand, pricing, manufacturing efficiency, battery costs, regulatory scrutiny, competition, and whether its software-led initiatives can scale commercially.
