West Pharmaceutical Services Inc (WST)
NYSE Market Open
West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. is a Pennsylvania-based healthcare supplier that provides critical components and delivery systems for injectable medicines. The company serves pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and generic drug manufacturers, with products used across biologics, vaccines, peptides, and small-molecule therapies. Its role is largely behind the scenes, but its components are essential to maintaining drug stability, sterility, and reliable dosing from manufacturing through patient administration.
West is best known for elastomer packaging and containment products such as vial stoppers, syringe plungers, seals, and other components that come into direct contact with injectable drugs. It also supplies nonglass containment technologies and delivery-related products, including systems used in auto-injectors and other administration formats. Demand for these products is supported by the growth of complex injectable therapies, including large-molecule biologics and peptide-based medicines such as GLP-1 receptor agonists.
The company operates through two main business areas. Its proprietary products segment, which represents the majority of revenue, includes higher-value packaging, containment, and delivery solutions developed and sold under West’s own platforms. Its contract-manufactured products business supports customers with device and component manufacturing services.
West has a global customer base and generates a meaningful share of sales outside the United States, reflecting the international nature of pharmaceutical manufacturing and drug distribution. For investors, WST is generally viewed as a specialized life sciences supplier with exposure to long-term trends in injectable drug development, biologic therapies, regulatory quality requirements, and outsourced manufacturing within the healthcare supply chain.
