Avery Dennison Corp. is a materials science and digital identification company best known for its pressure-sensitive labeling materials, adhesive technologies, packaging components, and radio-frequency identification products. Its products help brands, retailers, logistics providers, manufacturers, and healthcare companies label, track, authenticate, and present goods across global supply chains.
The company reports through two primary segments. The Materials Group is the larger business and produces label and graphic materials, reflective products, performance tapes, and other adhesive-based solutions. These materials are used in applications such as product labeling, vehicle graphics, industrial bonding, safety markings, packaging, and specialty films. The segment benefits from Avery Dennison’s expertise in coatings, films, papers, adhesives, and release liners.
The Solutions Group focuses on products and services that connect physical goods with digital systems. It supplies brand labels, price tickets, tags, embellishments, RFID inlays, and related equipment, software, and data services. This business is particularly important in apparel, retail, e-commerce, logistics, food, pharmaceuticals, and other sectors where companies need better inventory visibility, anti-counterfeiting tools, and consumer engagement capabilities.
Avery Dennison’s distinctive position comes from combining traditional labeling materials with newer identification technologies. RFID and other digital ID tools allow individual items to be tracked more precisely, supporting automation, supply chain transparency, and improved stock accuracy. At the same time, its core materials business remains closely linked to everyday packaging, branding, and industrial applications.
The company serves a broad international customer base and operates in markets where packaging quality, product information, sustainability requirements, and supply chain efficiency are increasingly important.
