Nvidia (NVDA)
Nasdaq Market Closed
Nvidia Corp is a US semiconductor company whose graphics processing units have become central to modern computing. The company first built its reputation in PC gaming, where GPUs render complex graphics in real time, and it remains a major supplier to gamers, workstation users, designers and visual effects professionals.
Nvidia’s importance has widened sharply as parallel processing has become essential for artificial intelligence. Its data centre chips are used to train and run large AI models, high-performance computing workloads, recommendation engines and other compute-heavy applications. The company supports this hardware with CUDA, a widely used software platform that lets developers write applications for Nvidia GPUs and helps reinforce the company’s ecosystem.
The business is fabless, meaning Nvidia designs chips and systems while relying on manufacturing partners for production. Beyond individual processors, it sells complete computing platforms, including accelerators, servers, networking products and related software. Its networking portfolio, strengthened by the Mellanox acquisition, helps connect large clusters of GPUs inside AI data centres.
Nvidia also serves automotive, robotics and edge-computing markets through platforms for autonomous driving, simulation and embedded AI. The company’s distinct position lies in combining high-performance silicon, developer tools, systems engineering and a large installed base. As a listed stock, NVDA gives investors exposure to demand for AI infrastructure, gaming hardware, professional visualization and the broader shift toward accelerated computing.
