Richardson Electronics Ltd is a specialised electronics company that supplies engineered components, systems, and services to industrial, medical, communications, defence, and energy markets. The company combines distribution with in-house design and manufacturing capabilities, allowing it to support customers that need high-reliability products rather than commodity electronics.
Its largest business is Power and Microwave Technologies, which sells power grid and microwave tubes, RF and microwave components, power conversion products, and related consumables. Richardson also operates a Green Energy Solutions segment focused on products that support electrification, renewable energy, and energy storage applications. This includes engineered solutions for customers seeking to improve reliability and efficiency in power systems. The Canvys segment provides customised display solutions, including monitors and integrated display systems for medical and industrial environments. Its Healthcare business supplies replacement parts, tubes, training, and service support for diagnostic imaging equipment.
The company’s niche lies in serving complex, long-life equipment markets where technical knowledge, product availability, and application support matter. Rather than competing mainly on volume, Richardson Electronics positions itself as a specialist partner for original equipment manufacturers, service providers, and operators that require dependable components and technical expertise across power, microwave, display, and healthcare technologies.
