Texas Instruments Incorporated is a major US semiconductor company best known for its leadership in analog chips and embedded processing. Based in Dallas, the company supplies components that help electronic devices sense, measure, convert, manage, and transmit real-world signals such as power, temperature, sound, and motion. Its products are used across a broad range of end markets, including industrial equipment, automobiles, personal electronics, communications infrastructure, and enterprise systems.
Analog semiconductors account for the large majority of Texas Instruments’ revenue. These chips are essential in nearly every electronic system, and the market tends to reward scale, manufacturing expertise, long product life cycles, and deep customer relationships. The company also has a significant embedded processing business, including microcontrollers and processors that act as control and computing elements in electronic devices.
Texas Instruments differentiates itself through a broad catalogue of products, a large direct sales and distribution network, and substantial in-house manufacturing capacity. Its investment in 300-millimetre wafer production is intended to improve cost efficiency and support long-term supply capability. While the company remains widely recognised by consumers for its calculators, that business represents only a small share of overall sales.
For investors, Texas Instruments is a bellwether for demand across the analog and embedded chip markets. Its performance is influenced by semiconductor cycles, inventory trends, industrial and automotive electronics demand, manufacturing utilisation, and long-term growth in the amount of electronic content used in everyday products.
