IBIT (Bitcoin ETF)

Buy IBIT. The article shows 7 straight days of ETF inflows and ~$5B processed via in-kind swaps, with whales actively participating. That combination usually turns “bounce” into “trend” because new demand keeps absorbing sell pressure near resistance ($80k). Add on any daily close back above $80,000; target a move through $82,850 toward $89,663.

Key Risk: ETF inflows flip to sustained outflows, breaking the demand floor and letting BTC slide back below the $77,489 support.

BTC spot

Buy BTC spot for the technical breakout. BTC is holding above the 50-day and 200-day EMAs, and the $77,489 Fibonacci level is the near-term line in the sand. The setup is a classic “range-to-breakout”: reclaim/hold $80,000, then break $82,850 to open the path to $89,663.

Key Risk: A rejection at $80,000-$82,850 followed by a clean break below $77,489, signaling the rally was just a short-covering bounce.

  • Bitcoin is trading above $78,000 on Wednesday as institutional demand strengthens.
  • Whale holdings and transactions continue to rise despite the recent retracement.
  • BTC now faces key resistance at $80,000 and around $82,850 in the near term.

Bitcoin BTC price is trading in negative territory on Wednesday, holding around $78,000 and struggling to extend its recovery beyond the $80,000 level.

The cryptocurrency's recent strength has been supported by renewed institutional demand and increased activity among large Bitcoin holders, commonly known as whales.

However, Bitcoin still faces significant resistance before a sustained recovery can be confirmed.

A decisive move above $80,000, followed by a break of the previous swing high near $82,850, could strengthen the bullish outlook.

BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF draws interest from whales

BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF, IBIT, is attracting increased interest from large Bitcoin holders through in-kind swaps.

Bloomberg Senior ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas said in a Tuesday post that BlackRock has processed about $5 billion in Bitcoin-to-ETF swaps.

According to Balchunas, the reduction of the minimum transaction size to $1 million has helped make the mechanism accessible to whales in addition to larger institutional clients.

The in-kind structure can also allow eligible Bitcoin holders to defer recognition of capital gains rather than selling their Bitcoin for cash before purchasing ETF shares.

Institutional demand has strengthened further, with SoSoValue data showing that Bitcoin ETFs recorded $314.37 million in inflows on Tuesday.

This marked the seventh consecutive day of positive inflows.

The total net asset value of the Bitcoin ETFs has climbed to $99.05 billion, representing approximately 6.31% of Bitcoin's total market capitalization.

The combination of sustained ETF inflows and increased participation from large holders could provide further support for Bitcoin's recovery.

Bitcoin's recent rally has also been accompanied by stronger whale activity.

The cryptocurrency has gained about 23% in its latest rally, marking its strongest rise in three years and pushing BTC above the average purchase price of a large portion of the market.

Santiment data shows that the percentage of Bitcoin's total supply currently in profit has increased to 69.32%, up from 60.04% on August 13 before the rally.

At the same time, the seven-day whale transaction count for transactions worth more than $1 million has risen to 12,778, pointing to increased activity among large investors.

Whale wallets holding between 10,000 and 1 million BTC now control approximately 15.01% of Bitcoin's total supply, up from 14.75% on August 1.

A sustained increase in whale holdings can signal stronger accumulation and may support the formation of a market bottom or the continuation of a broader recovery.

Technical outlook: Bitcoin faces resistance at $80,000

Bitcoin is trading around $78,100 at the time of writing as it retraces below $80,000 following its recent rally.

BTC remains above both its 50-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) at $67,760 and its 200-day EMA at $72,799, pointing to a firmly supported medium-term trend.

The 78.6% Fibonacci retracement of the decline from $82,850 to $57,800 is positioned at $77,489 and currently provides an important nearby support level.

However, Bitcoin has struggled to sustain moves above $80,000. The previous swing high around $82,850 represents the next major resistance zone.

A confirmed breakout above $82,850 could open the way toward the 127.2% Fibonacci extension at $89,663.

Momentum indicators remain bullish but show signs of overheating. The 4-hour Relative Strength Index (RSI) is around 64, placing it close to the overbought territory.

Meanwhile, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and signal line remain positive, although the weakening histogram suggests that upward momentum may be losing some strength.

On the downside, Bitcoin's first major support is around $77,489, corresponding to the recently reclaimed 78.6% Fibonacci retracement.

BTC/USD 4H Chart

A deeper pullback could bring the broader demand zone between the 200-day EMA at $72,799 and the 50% Fibonacci retracement at $70,325 into focus.

For the bullish scenario to remain intact, Bitcoin needs to hold above these support levels and eventually break through the $80,000-$82,850 resistance zone.

A sustained breakout could strengthen the recovery and expose the $89,663 level as the next major upside target.
